London's Royal Academy of Arts has named Spanish artist Cristina Iglesias the winner of its 2020 architecture prize for her urban sculptures in public spaces.

Cristina Iglesias’ water sculpture in three parts, ‘Forgotten Streams’ – a homage to the ancient Walbrook River that once flowed through the site – defines the public spaces at each end of Bloomberg Arcade. The Spanish artist Cristina Iglesias (San Sebastián, 1956) has been awarded the 2020 Architecture Award from the Royal Academy of Arts (RA) in London, as announced by the institution. Cristina Iglesias’ water sculpture in three parts, ‘Forgotten Streams’ – a homage to the ancient Walbrook River that once flowed through the site – defines the public spaces at each end of Bloomberg Arcade. Cristina Iglesias (San Sebastian, November 1956) is a Spanish installation artist and sculptor living and working in Torrelodones, Madrid.She works with many materials, including steel, water, glass, bronze, bamboo, straw.
Her installations transform galleries into immense labyrinths of dream, fiction, literary allusion, and chiaroscuro, enigmatic and yet highly evocative of the tradition of Islamic architecture in Spain.
